Hey, Six Pack Shortcuts. Henry Tran here and today is a very special day – I wanted to share with you a video I hold near and dear to my heart with my brother Clark Shao. As you may have heard, last year we lost Clark in a tragic accident.
It’s been some time now this week we are giving tribute and showing thanks for everything Clark has done here by releasing the last few videos he shot with us
Clark is just an amazing individual – he brings such positivity and is an upbeat person. I was friends with Clark before Six Pack Shortcuts, and he’s my brother and friend no matter what.
So, as a great way to remember him, we set up a donation page with YMCA Greater Houston to give back to Clark’s hometown and community to promote healthier living and lifestyles for families and young people. Just click the link below to donate on Clark’s behalf.”
We miss you here, brother. I know you’re watching over us. This ones for you, man.

Today we’re going to go over your appetite and how it is affected by training and working out to get your six pack abs. This can be one of the biggest problems guys face when trying to get in shape.
You see, the number 1 factor that dictates your feeling of hunger is the Leptin hormone. Leptin regulates your appetite and your body’s ability to burn fat for fuel. But…There are common malpractices guys are doing on a daily basis that are killing your leptin levels.
We’re going to go over the top 6 reasons and ways you may be hurting your leptin levels to get in shape, show off the six pack and have the body you deserve let’s get started:
#6 – 2:28 – You are drinking too much soda. Along with soda, there are iced teas, energy drinks and other sugary beverages are huge daily contributors of high fructose corn syrup – this can actually trick our brains into craving more food, overpowering the role of Leptin in dealing with your body feeling full. Instead of grabbing the drinks full of high-fructose corn syrup, stick to things like water with cucumber or lemon, unsweetened teas, or drink some BCAA’s – things your body can process and benefit from taking in.
#5 – 3:46 – You are eating canned foods. Now, these may be cheaper and high in protein in some cases, but these foods in cans are also high in BPA – a chemical that has been associated and raised concern due to abnormal spikes in Leptin levels that can lead to food cravings and obesity. If the option is there – stick to whole foods over canned. Frozen food is also a viable alternative to canned foods.
#4 -4:49 – You are skipping breakfast. Eating a bigger breakfast is important because it contributes towards smaller blood sugar and insulin spikes throughout the day, which equals fewer food cravings. If your body goes into a starvation mode, it will actually retain and store calories eaten as fat instead of burning it off. If you don’t eat until lunch, you also run the risk of overeating. The secret to getting lean is to eat, guys.
#3 – 6:15 – You are skipping veggies. Most guys aren’t eating enough leafy greens that are essential in helping to fight fatigue and weight gain. Leafy greens are also rich in Vitamin K that helps to both reduce and control cravings. Some of the best sources you can be eating are romaine lettuce, spinach, or collard greens. Make sure you are getting a minimum of 3 servings of leafy greens per day.
#2 – 7:35 – You don’t drink any tea. Tea is actually one of the best ways to support weight loss. Tea contains fantastic properties that can help speed up metabolism, support digestion, rid the body of toxins, and suppress appetite. Stay away from the pre-bottled teas you buy that are full of sugar – drinking some black tea or African mango extract tea are both great choices.
#1 – 8:40 – You’re bored. Studies have actually shown that visual distractions are a way to help curb cravings. You can get caught up and focused on doing a task and when that happens you end up going long periods of time without eating anything. Great snacks or options to have available are rice cakes, dried seaweed flakes, or almonds.
What are some of your favorite healthy snacks to eat? Are you skipping out on your leafy greens? What else is going on with your body when you’re trying to lose fat? Drop us your questions and comments below and by going to sixpackabs.com/discussion.
