Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a common disorder characterized by discontinuous breathing during sleep. Such discontinuous breathing makes one wake up in middle of the night with a loud snore. This condition is usually associated with morning headaches & insomnia.

Symptoms:
• Waking up in the middle of the night with a loud snore
• Morning headaches
• Insomnia

Causes:
• Obesity
• Enlarged tonsils in children may also lead to this condition

Recipes based on the above food groups:
Recipe 1: Brown rice
1. Add 1 tsp canola oil in a pan
2. Add a pinch of mustard seeds & let them splutter
3. Add 1 tsp chana daal which is also known as split gengal gram.
This is optional, if you don’t have this easily available you can skip
this step
4. Saute till it turns slightly brown
5. Now add ½ cup chopped onions
6. Saute till the onion caramelizes and turns brown
7. Now add, 1 cup finely sliced cabbage
8. Add 1 cup chopped broccoli
9. Also add some salt for taste
10. Add ½ tsp turmeric powder
11. Mix this & cook till the broccoli and cabbage is tender
12. Once, done add 2 cups of cooked rice in this
We are using brown rice in this dish. Make sure the rice is not still hot
13. Mix this gently & put sprinkle some coriander leaves on top.
Switch off the flame
14 Cover this with a lid and let it rest for 2-3 minutes
15. Your rice dish is ready
Recipe 2: Indian flat breads
1. Take 30 g of sorghum flour also known as juar ka atta in a bowl
2. Add 1 tsp low fat yogurt to it
3. Now, add 1 tbsp grated carrot to it
4. Also add 1 tbsp grated radish
5. Add some salt and pepper to taste
6. Now add 1 tsp canola oil
7. Knead it into soft dough using warm water
8. Roll it into a roti
9. Cook it on a non stick pan
10. You may sprinkle a little oil
11. Cook on both sides till it turns golden brown
12. Serve these roti’s with any vegetable dish or simply some low
fat yogurt. They are tasty and will help keep you fuller for long

• Avoid any foods which are high in fats, especially any junk or
fried foods
