Gallstones

Gallstones refer to stones or lumps formed in our gallbladder or the bile duct. Sometimes, elements in the bile fluid such as cholesterol, calcium bilirubinate and calcium carbonate solidify to form one big or several small stones.

Symptoms to look for:

• Nausea, vomiting, pain & fever

Food groups to consume in eczema:

1. Low fat: Holds contraction of gall bladder muscles

Foods to consume: Apples, pears, oranges, papaya, dates, figs as well as raw salads such as cucumbers, carrots, beetroot and cabbage. Also, have pulses like kidney beans, green gram (moong), horse gram & whole grains such as oats, brown rice and millets

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Horse gram salad

1. Soak ½ cup horse gram (black chana) over night
2. Wash and add 2 cups of water to it and pressure cook it until
3-4 whistles
3. Take the boiled horse gram (black chana) in a bowl
4. Chop ½ an onion
5. Chop ½ a tomato. Add this to the gram
6. Now chop ½ cucumber & add it to the mixture
7. For seasoning, add 2 tsp lemon juice, some salt & chaat
masala
8. Chaat masala is a blend of dried raw mango powder and
some other spices. It has a tangy taste
9. Finally, garnish the salad with chopped coriander leaves and
serve

Recipe 2: Kidney bean rice

1. Soak 1/2 cup kidney bean overnight
2. Wash and add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it until 2-3
whistles
3. Heat 2 tsp olive oil in a deep pan
4. Add 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
5. Chop one medium onion and add
6. Also add 2 finely chopped tomato and let it cook for 5 min
7. Now dice ½ red bell pepper, ½ zucchini and one stalk of
celery and add it to the pan.
8. Cover it with a lid and let it cook for 10 min
9. Stir and add the boiled kidney beans
10. Add 1 tsp of oregano and 1 tsp of dried basil
11. Now add 2 tsp black pepper powder and 1 tbsp tomato
ketchup
12. Add 1 cup of boiled rice, salt to taste and stir well
13. Cover and let it cook for 8-10 min
14. Then add finely chopped coriander leaves
15. Stir and serve hot

• Avoid red meat, butter, margarine, fried foods, soft drinks,
chocolates & refined food
• Eat small meals at regular intervals
