Measles

Measles is a highly contagious viral infection which is characterised by red, raised itchy rashes that appear first on the head and then spread through the entire body.

Symptoms to look for:

• High fever
• Cough
• Sneezing
• Runny nose
• Red eyes
• Diarrhoea

Food groups to consume in measles:

1. Include fruits, vegetables, lentils, whole grains & yogurt in diet

2. Liquids: Prevent dehydration

Foods to consume: Juices, buttermilk, coconut water, barley water and soups

3. Citrus juices: Improves appetite

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Lentil soup

1. Put ½ cup of washed pigeon pea lentil (toor dal) in a cooker
2. Add ½ cup chopped tomatoes
3. Also add 1 chopped green chilli
4. Now, add 1 small piece of ginger
5. Also add some salt and turmeric to taste
6. Once done, add 2 cups water
7. Now cook this mixture for 3-4 whistles
8. Once it’s cooked, pour in a bowl and whisk
9. Heat 1½ tsp oil in a small pan
10. Now add ½ tsp cumin seeds and allow them to crackle
11. Now, add this oil in the soup
12. Mix gently & bring the mixture to a boil
13. Once done, make sure to serve hot

Recipe 2: Mix fruit juice

1. Put 1 orange in a juicer. Make sure to de-seed it
2. Add 4 slices of pineapple in it
3. Also add 4-5 strawberries
4. Juice them all together
5. Strain the mixture

This juice will give a perfect start to your day
