Hives

Hives or urticaria is a condition characterized by raised, itchy and red rashes that can come upon face, lips, tongue, throat or ears. Most of the times this condition is a result of an allergy.

Symptoms to look for:

• Itchy & red rashes

Causes:

• Certain foods, exposure to heat, cold or sunlight, certain
medications, insect bites or even a weak immune system

Food groups to consume in eczema:

1. Omega 3: Reduces inflammation

Foods to consume: Flax seeds, soy beans, spinach and walnuts

2. Foods with low histamine levels:

Foods to consume: Plain milk, oats, puffed rice and freshly baked plain breads

3. Vitamin A, C & E: They contain antioxidants and help fight
free radicals and also boost immunity

Foods to consume: Foods rich in –
Vitamin A: Papaya, pineapples, carrots, melons, pear, mangoes, peaches, sweet potatoes and green leafy veggies
Vitamin C: Indian gooseberries, guavas, oranges, broccoli, cabbage and turnips
Vitamin E: Almonds, olives, taro root,wheat germ, sunflower and pumpkin seeds

4. Yogurt: Boosts immunity

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Vegetable stir fry

1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok
2. Chop and add 1 carrot
3.Also add ¼ cup chopped cabbage
4. Add ¼ blanched baby corn chopped into slices

We will now add ¼cup sprouted beans that will make this stir fry a little crunchy

5. Chop and add ¼spring onion
6. Also add ¼ cup diced red bell peppers
7. Now add 1 tsp chill flakes
8. Stir this all well and sauté it for 5-6 min
9. Now add ½ cup diced pineapples
10. Add 2 tsp light soy sauce
11. And 1 tsp sugar
12. Finally add some salt and pepper to taste
13. Stir and sauté for another 3-4 min
14. Serve hot

Recipe 2: Soy cutlets

1. Heat 2 cups of water in a pan and soak 250 gm soy chunks
into it for 5 minutes
2. Once cooled down, drain the water and mash them
thoroughly in a big bowl
3. Also mash 200 gm boiled potatoes in it
4. Now add ½ cup finely chopped spinach
5. Add 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
6. Finely chop and add 3 green chilies
7. Add ½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste
8. Add 1 tsp cumin and coriander powder each
9. Now add some salt to taste
10. Mix this thoroughly
11. Now make cutlets of this mixture. You can give it any shape
or just use a cutlet mold
12. Next heat 2 tbsp olive oil on a fry pan
13. Take some 2 tbsp semolina in a plate
14. Now coat the cutlets with the semolina and place them on
the fry pan
15. Fry on both the sides till it gets crispy for about 5-8 min
16. Remove and serve hot with mint chutney
